San Antonio

Nickname: Alamo

Closest team, Houston Astros (197 miles)

I would hope a history lesson isn’t necessary for the team name.

A legitimate question. If you’re a die-hard fan of a minor league baseball team, that’s good for you. But the only baseball team in San Antonio is the Missions, the Triple-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Like, how does that make sense? That’s a Brewers problem, but are San Antonians Brewers fans, even though it’s a four-hour flight? Do they just root for the Astros since that is the city’s the closest team? Or do they live and die Missions baseball?

I guess there’s no wrong answer. But all of the options are a bit weird.

Anyway, the loyalty to the Spurs goes without question. Of course, the 22-straight years of playoff basketball and five rings certainly helped.

San Antonio is also the seventh-most populated city in the United States, with over 1.5 million people calling it home, These people can do something other than go to a Spurs game. Hey, they might have to, especially since the Spurs’ playoff run is over.

And the Spurs probably won’t be a playoff team for a little while, unless Dejounte Murray becomes Tony Parker.

But nonetheless, even though this is my second Texas proposal, it could definitely work.
