5 best NHL goal horns of all-time in league history

Calgary Flames
This list wouldn’t do justice if an NHL team North of the Border didn’t make the cut, right?
The Calgary Flames’ goal horn from 1998 through the 2004 season is worthy of No. 2 for this power ranking. The goal horn’s sound was both captivating and electrifying while the city’s regular sold-out crowd portrayed a “Sea of Red” throughout the arena.
A game in Calgary is quite the sight and the goal horn always added to the excitement and atmosphere. The horn was also much different than most NHL teams and even hearing it chime briefly a few times after the initial dragged-out sound wasn’t a bad wrinkle either.
The horn arguably grew in popularity and was greatly appreciated by the hockey community after the Flames’ memorable 2003-04 Stanley Cup Playoff run. Calgary was an underdog that was more than enjoyable to watch that postseason after upsetting team after team to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
While a goal horn plays a big part in creating an awesome atmosphere, so do the fans’ reactions and enthusiasm once it sounds off. It’s great to see a passionate hockey city such as Calgary entail an awesome goal horn that most NHL teams wish they possessed.
Western Canada’s favorite goal horn was definitely an obnoxious and frustrating sound for opposing teams, which we’re sure that clubs such as the San Jose Sharks from the 2004 Stanley Cup Payoffs can attest.
An underrated aspect about the Flames’ overall goal celebration with their entire arena was the track “Burn Baby Burn” playing after the horn. It’s a cliché, yes, but it was clever and a fun song that fans can cheer engage with.
It’s also great to see that Calgary has barley modified the goal horn over the years, but have changed the goal song. Hopefully, like most teams should consider, the Flames will revert back to the overall goal celebrations from the late 1990s and early 2000s.
