ESPN is broadcasting the NBA HORSE Challenge, featuring current and former NBA and WNBA stars competing for charity. Here’s what you need to know to watch.

Without live sports, many of us are looking for diversions and ESPN and the NBA are collaborating on another fun experiment — a HORSE tournament featuring some of the biggest names in the NBA and WNBA.

Everyone will be shooting solo from home locations (both indoor and outdoor courts are acceptable) and ESPN will be broadcasting the feeds live so we can watch along and join in the fun. State Farm is sponsoring the single-elimination tournament and donating $200,000 to coronavirus relief efforts.

The NBA HORSE Challenge kicks off Sunday, Apr. 12 with eight participants. The semifinals and finals will be shown on Thursday, Apr. 16. Considering how quickly this all came together, the organizers have put together quite the field of difficult shot-makers.

Quarterfinals 1: Trae Young vs. Chauncey Billups
Quarterfinals 2: Tamika Catchings vs. Mike Conley Jr.
Quarterfinals 3: Zach LaVine vs. Paul Pierce
Quarterfinals 4: Chris Paul vs. Allie Quigley

Semifinals 1: Winner of Group 1 vs. Winner of Group 2
Semifinals 2: Winner of Group 3 vs. Winner of Group 4

There is no word yet on any special twists or ground rules, although Young has called for a moratorium on dunking (which would have put everyone other than LaVine at a BIG disadvantage).

The NBA previously experimented with a HORSE tournament as an event at All-Star Weekend during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. Kevin Durant won both of those tournaments but, recovering from his Achilles’ rupture and brutal loss in the first round of the NBA2K Players Tournament, it’s probably a good thing he’s not competing.
