Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 mock draft: Full 7 rounds
By Conor Dorney
In the midst of a full-scale rebuild, the Jacksonville Jaguars head into the 2020 NFL Draft with plenty of draft capital to improve the roster.
The Jacksonville Jaguars coming within one game of a Super Bowl berth in 2017 feels like an ancient memory these days and now the Jags head into the 2020 NFL Draft in a full-scale rebuild.
Nick Foles, Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye and Calais Campbell have all been traded in the past six months but on the bright side, it has given Jacksonville a wealth of draft capital to fill their needs. The team scored a huge hit with last year’s first-rounder, Josh Allen, but will need to do more of the same for head coach Doug Marrone and GM Dave Caldwell to save their jobs.
How will Duuuval approach the 2020 Draft in less than a month? It’s time to take a look with this seven-round mock.
Few expected Josh Allen to be available when Jacksonville was on the clock last year and I suspect the same could hold true for Auburn’s Derrick Brown in this draft.
As talented as Brown is, an early run on offensive tackles and quarterbacks may have him sliding further down draft boards than many expect. Fresh off trading Calais Campbell and potentially Yannick Ngakoue, Jacksonville would be wise to add a talent of Brown’s caliber to their defensive line.
Brown was consistently one of the most dominant defensive players in the SEC and his play on the final drive of the Alabama game last season illustrates just how disruptive of a player he can be. Jags fans would be thrilled to add him to the fold with the ninth overall pick.
Jacksonville is in dire need of playmakers on the back end having dealt both Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye in the past six months. One player who could be a perfect piece to begin the Jags’ secondary rebuild is Southern Illinois’ Jeremy Chinn.
Chinn has had a stellar draft process that began with a great week and the Senior Bowl and culminated with some of the best testing at his position group during the Combine. It seems that pre-draft helium could very well land him in the first round, with Jacksonville being a potential landing spot.
There are shades of former Florida State standout Derwin James to Chinn’s game although unlike James, many believe Chinn is destined for a role as an outside cornerback at the pro level.
Wherever you end up playing him, Chinn has the size (6-foot-3, 221 pounds), speed, and ball skills to become an impact player and anchor the back end of a defense for years to come.
