1. Gardner Minshew won’t make it to Week 8

Minshew was a fun story for the Jaguars last season, but there’s a reason why he wasn’t regarded as a highly regarded quarterback prospect coming out of school. His lack of arm strength still makes it very difficult to project him as anything other than an NFL backup.

His good story is going to turn into a nightmare early into the Jaguars’ 2020 campaign. They are going to need him to try to win games for them with his arm. His performance in obvious passing situations is going to reveal all of his weaknesses as a player.

Marrone is going to be searching for answer at quarterback early in the season. That means Minshew will be headed to the bench before the season’s midpoint. Foles may not be there to put pressure on him any longer, but Joshua Dobbs and/or a rookie from this year’s draft will prove to be a desirable alternative to Minshew.

Minshew has a place in the NFL, but it’s holding a clipboard on the sidelines. The sooner he goes back to being a quality backup the better off the Jaguars are going to be. Minshew Mania will come crashing down this year.

The Jaguars will be looking at different quarterback options before Week 8 arrives.
