Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Florida’s C.J. Henderson is a name being increasingly mentioned in association with the 49ers, who undoubtedly could use a long-term starter at boundary corner with Richard Sherman entering the final year of his contract.

However, if the Niners have their eyes on a corner they could potentially get at a better value by trading back from 13 to obtain extra picks or one that may even be available at 31, then Fulton seems a likelier option.

Fulton stood out even in LSU’s star-studded secondary during his time with the Tigers. He has the ideal size for the cornerback position and has shown the ability to flourish playing on an island in man and press coverage.

Indeed, his performance against Alabama, particularly when guarding Henry Ruggs, provided an exciting glimpse of Fulton’s potential as a legitimate shutdown corner as he kept Ruggs in check.

Competitive at the catch point and with a nose for the football that saw him rack up 14 pass deflections in 2019, Fulton will need to turn some of those breakups into interceptions at the next level.

Fulton had only two interceptions in his collegiate career but, despite that low total, Fulton has the skill set to make the 49ers look very smart if they can get him later in the first round.
