Rounds 5-7

player. 817. . Offensive tackle. Tigers . Saahdiq Charles. 150

Discussed already with the Thomas pick, the Giants need a lot of offensive tackle help. If Gettleman takes Thomas to play one of the tackle spots such as right tackle, taking Saahdiq Charles in the fifth round makes sense for the future if he slips this far.

Drafting Charles makes sense because he has the talent to be a starting tackle. He played left tackle at LSU, but he’s just more of a project player right now. Develop him while you pay Solder, then add him into the mix when Solder is gone.

. Safety. Wolverines . Josh Metellus. 183. player. 811

The secondary is still a work in progress for the Giants. Josh Metellus is a nice piece who can add to the team’s depth. He played four seasons at Michigan, playing in 43 games from 2016-19. He gathered 186 total tackles, nine tackles for loss and picked off five passes.

Metellus is a smaller safety at 5-foot-11 and 209 pounds. At the combine, he clocked a 40-yard dash time of 4.55 seconds.

Trevis Gipson played his college football at Tulsa University. This edge rusher plays defensive end, and he collected 13 sacks during his time at Tulsa. In his final season in 2019 he had career highs with eight sacks and 15 tackles for loss.

In the NFL, it never hurts to stockpile on pass rushing.

. Wide receiver. Aggies . Kendrick Rogers. 238. player. 873

Kendrick Rogers was never a volume receiver at Texas A&M. In his three seasons, he had 68 receptions for 786 yards. However, he did have seven receiving touchdowns.

In college, Rogers got away with his lack of route-running ability due to his size. At 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds, he was a big target for his quarterbacks, and he used his size to his advantage. He could be a low-risk, high-reward project pick.

Raymond Calais played in the Sun Belt conference for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns from 2016-19. In those four seasons he ran for 1,845 yards with 16 touchdowns from scrimmage. Last season, he had his best season with 886 yards and seven total scores.

Calais also has successful special teams experience. He had 2,493 kick return yards during his collegiate career with two return scores. In 2018, he had a career-high 908 yards on 35 returns.

Jake Luton. 255. player. 832. . Quarterback. Beavers

Eli Manning retired, so the Giants could use some quarterback depth on the roster. Jake Luton is an experienced college quarterback who played four seasons. He began at Idaho in the Sun Belt conference, but played his final three seasons in the Pac-12 with Oregon State.

Luton is a big quarterback at 6-foot-6 and 224 pounds. In 2019, he threw for 2,714 yards with 28 passing touchdowns and three picks. Ironically, Lance Zierlein comps him to former Giant draftee Davis Webb.
