3rd round

The loss of Reggie Ragland in free agency leaves Kansas City in need of depth at linebacker. Appalachian State’s Akeem Davis-Gaither could fit the bill in round three.

Davis-Gaither is an ascending prospect whose athleticism and sideline-to-sideline range should make him an appealing fit for the Chiefs’ defense. The former Mountaineer was a tackling machine, logging over 100 tackles to go with 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks.

While he’s undersized for the position, Davis-Gaither’s athleticism to drop into coverage and savvy as a blitzer should make him a valuable piece in the Chiefs’ scheme. If the team passes on a linebacker with their first two selections, the former Appalachian State standout could be their target in round three.
