3. Titans star Derrick Henry will regress slightly

Henry was arguably the most important player for any team during the playoffs last season. That also means he took an absolute pounding in the Titans’ run to the AFC Championship game.

It’s a safe bet that those miles are going to catch up to him at some point during his 2020 campaign. Henry’s production isn’t going to suddenly fall off a cliff during his age 26 season, but there will be some concerning dips for the Titans to deal with.

The franchise could really help by taking his carries down from last year’s total of 303 to a more manageable number. In a perfect world, they could find a back in the draft who can shoulder some of that load. Keeping Henry down below 250 carries would drastically increase his chances of being healthy for a playoff run.

Even if he does stay healthy and energized for a full season, he’ll be hard pressed to match last year’s average of 5.1 yards per carry. The former Alabama standout is a good bet to stay in the high 4’s, but a slight drop is going to make this Titans offense much easier to handle. Henry will still be a major weapon in 2020, but he may never match the production he managed in 2019.
