1. Patrick Mahomes will break the record for passing yards in a season

The number 5,477 should be very important to Mahomes in 2020. That is the number of yards Peyton Manning threw for in 2013 for the Broncos. It’s also the NFL record for passing yards in a single season.

Mahomes has more than enough talent to break that record. The Chiefs also are providing him with enough weapons to rack up yards at a historic rate. The big key will be keeping Mahomes healthy for a full 16-game slate.

If the organization can give Mahomes a little more protection in this year’s draft, he should have what it takes to break Manning’s record. Obviously he’ll need some good luck along the way to make that happen, but elite players like Mahomes have a habit of creating their own luck.

Reid is also the right coach for the job. He’s an offensive guru who prides himself at inventing new concepts in the passing game. Mahomes is his ideal quarterback in terms of both skill and temperament. Look for the two to explode in 2020 for just over 5,500 yards.
