Baker Mayfield. QB. Oklahoma Sooners. 1. player. 53. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Though it hasn’t been smooth for him since he went No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns, Baker Mayfield has had a better NFL career thus far compared to Rosen. The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner had an impressive rookie season for the Browns in 2018. He went 6-7 as a starter, completing 63.8 percent of his passes for 3,725 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Cleveland finished within half a game of .500 in 2018, going 7-8-1 despite major upheaval to the coaching staff. Hue Jackson wasn’t allowed to finish the season he started. The same thing applied to former Browns offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams took over in the interim with Freddie Kitchens climbing up the ranks to be Haley’s replacement.

Simply put, the Browns bought into the hype and made major coaching mistakes this past offseason. Cleveland didn’t keep Williams and opted to promote Kitchens to head coach. He was in so over his skis, it could not have been more ridiculous. Cleveland regressed to 6-10 in 2019, despite trading for Odell Beckham Jr. Mayfield experienced what we call a sophomore slump.

He completed 59.4 percent of his passes for 3,827 yards, 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions, going 6-10 as a starter. Mayfield could not stop saying dumb things at the microphone to the Cleveland media. Kitchens was fired after only one season. Even though he’ll be on his fourth head coach entering his third NFL season in Kevin Stefanski, Mayfield has been way better than Rosen.
