3. Clelin Ferrell will get benched

Gruden and the Raiders have a ton of draft capital invested into Ferrell. That doesn’t change the reality that he’s the team’s third best edge rusher at the moment.

Maxx Crosby burst onto the scene last season with 10 sacks. He is the team’s No. 1 option at defensive end. That’s ironic since he was drafted three rounds after Ferrell.

Ferrell also deserves to be behind Arden Key on the depth chart. Don’t expect Gruden to admit defeat on that front quickly. Ferrell will be given a long stretch of football to prove he’s capable of living up to the hype.

At some point though, Gruden’s patience is going to run out. When it does, Ferrell is going to find himself on the bench next to the defensive coaching staff. He may not stay there for very long, but look for his relationship with Gruden to begin to deteriorating down the stretch of the 2020 campaign.
