2. Philadelphia Eagles

There’s no denying Carson Wentz’s talent level, and he started all 16 regular season games for the first time since his rookie year last year.

But durability concerns go back to his final college season at North Dakota State (broken wrist), with a torn ACL and a back injury costing him time (and playoff starts) in 2017 and 2018. He also left the Eagles’ playoff game last year (a loss to the Seattle Seahawks) very early with a head injury, leaving Josh McCown to take his place.

The magic Nick Foles produced in Wentz’s place, including a run to a Super Bowl win in 2017 and nearly two playoff wins as the starter the following year, is long gone. If the season started today, Nate Sudfeld would be Wentz’s primary backup.

Based on experience and his history of playoff success, Flacco is an automatic and easy upgrade to Philadelphia’s quarterback room. They could also consider signing Jameis Winston once the draft is in the books, but Flacco is a far steadier presence and a better overall fit as a veteran backup to Wentz.
