8. Sammy Watkins

Watkins is another player that hasn’t exactly put up the numbers to match his contract but not all of his contributions show up on the stat sheet.

The Chiefs are clearly more dynamic and dangerous when Watkins is on the field. His speed and explosiveness has to be accounted for by defenses. This helps alleviate some of the pressure on the Chiefs’ other players like Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill.

Watkins chipped in 52 catches for 674 yards during the 2019 season. While he didn’t exactly light things up when he was the No. 1 receiver during Tyreek Hill’s absence with injury, it was in the playoffs where Watkins really shined.

In fact, there is an argument to be made that the Chiefs wouldn’t have won the Super Bowl without Watkins. The man his teammates have taken to calling “Big Game Sammy” caught 14 of 18 targets in the playoffs, racking up 288 yards and one touchdown and averaged 20.6 yards-per-catch.

Watkins was sensational in the Super Bowl, catching five balls for 98 yards, including a key catch on the Chiefs’ go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter.
