4. The Giants will add a wide receiver in Round 1 of the draft

If the Giants want Jones to grow into a quality NFL starter, they have to find a young wide receiver for him to develop alongside. No one on the current roster fits that definition.

That’s why GM Dave Gettleman will get creative in this year’s draft. The roster could certainly stand to add the sort of high-end talent that will be available at No. 4, but the prudent choice will be to trade down a few spots in Round 1. Sliding down to that range would allow New York to select one of the best wide receivers in this year’s class.

If the Giants don’t want to pay a premium to select someone like CeeDee Lamb or Jerry Jeudy, they could try to move back into the bottom of Round 1 to take advantage of the depth available at the position. Jones could really benefit from adding a weapon like Justin Jefferson or KJ Hamler to make big plays after the catch.

It’s imperative that the Giants add receiving talent in the draft if they want Jones to take a step forward in 2020. It should be a question of when, not if, for the franchise’s front office.
