2. Daniel Jones will throw 20 interceptions

It’s impressive that Jones managed to throw 24 touchdowns in just 13 games last season. His interception total of 12 in that same span was also pretty encouraging.

The interception rate is going to increase as the coaching staff asks him to make more plays down the field though. 20 is actually a relatively conservative estimate for his total in 2020. He’s got a chance to blow past that number and get closer to 30 if the Giants put too much on his plate.

For the record, this won’t necessarily be a sign of regression for Jones. He’s going to have some natural growing pains as the team puts more on his plate. In a strange way, throwing a few more interceptions might be an encouraging sign that he’s feeling empowered to take more chances.

The narrative will still ring with the question of whether or not Jones is being too careless with the football. That might happen, but his interception total isn’t going to tell the complete story. Dig deeper into his play when the talking heads start to criticize him.
