2. Zack Baun

The Seahawks brought Bruce Irvin into the fold to help fill the edge rushing void created by Clowney’s departure. He’s a nice veteran stopgap, but he’s not a player Seattle can build around for the future.

Baun would give the team an excellent understudy to learn behind Irvin and company in 2020. He’s just the sort of big, physical edge presence that Carroll really seems to enjoy coaching. He may never be a double-digit sack guy off the edge, but he’s got the size and athleticism required to do a little bit of everything off the edge.

The biggest question Baun needs to answer is if he is better suited to play as a down lineman in a four man front or a standup linebacker in a 3-4 defense at the next level. In Seattle, he’s got a chance to toggle back and forth between both positions depending on the down and distance.

Baun isn’t everyone’s cup of tea due to his lack of sheer speed off the edge, but he’s off the chart in terms of physicality and toughness. That should be enough to make him worthy of the Seahawks’ first round pick.
