4. Detroit Lions

The Lions are 9-22-1 in two seasons under Matt Patricia, and general manager Bob Quinn’s fate is surely tied to his hand-picked head coach. A playoffs-or-bust lament seems to be out there from ownership, so moves to foster that push are definitely on the radar in Detroit.

Rather than make him among the highest-paid cornerbacks in the league (if not the highest paid), the Lions traded top cornerback Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. It seems certain they will draft a corner early to fill that void at a lower cost, but the NFL’s worst pass defense last year (284.4 yards a game) needs plenty of help.

Detroit made a trade with the New England Patriots for versatile safety Duron Harmon, so their need there is not great anymore. But if there’s any opportunity to add another notable  piece to the secondary and the defense as a whole, they should do so without much question.

It will probably come down to giving up future draft capital in order to bring Adams to Detroit. But that can’t bother Quinn too much, with his job likely on the line, and as a defensive-minded coach Patricia won’t mind having Adams aboard.
