The most important game the Texans play next year may not even be on American soil. You probably would have guessed it, but if the Texans want to go 4-2 in AFC South play, they’ll have to sweep the Jacksonville Jaguars, even if it means beating London’s Finest across the pond. One of the Texans’ few gimme games is at home to the Jaguars, but can they complete the sweep?

We touched on this earlier of how unlikely it is for the Texans to sweep the Titans next fall. It could happen, but they’ll have an infinitely easier time doing it against the Jaguars. Sweeping the Indianapolis Colts is possible, but winning at Lucas Oil Stadium won’t be easy either. The easiest place for the Texans to get a road win is vs. the Jaguars, regardless of where it is being played at.

Having a winning record in AFC South play would give the Texans a fighting chance to three-peat in the division. For them to even do that, a sweep is necessary and it would probably have to come against the rebuilding Jaguars. Though a sweep over the Colts or the Titans would be wonderful, there is no reason we should bank on the Texans accomplishing that next year. They’re too good!

Overall, the Texans have a challenging schedule next year. Nearly half of their games will be against playoff teams from last season. This is often the case when you win your division; you play better competition. Though the Texans are likely to regress next year given all that’s happened this offseason, they have to sweep cannon fodder like the Jaguars if they want to three-peat.
