Kobe Bryant

Between his playing style, his championship resume and the controversy surrounding him, the late, great Kobe Bryant is the Michael Jordan of the new generation.

Of course, Bryant is known as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. That part of any documentary featuring him needs no explaining. But in 2003, Bryant was arrested and eventually charged with sexual assault. He first said he did not have sexual intercourse with the woman in question, but later admitted to it. The case was eventually dropped, but it put a stain on Bryant’s name for a long while.

Of course, for the next 12 years after the case was dropped, Bryant solidified himself as one of the game’s best ever. In the later years of his career, as well as retirement, Bryant was known as one of the good guys in the league. He eventually became an Oscar winner, opened the Mamba Academy, and was a well-known father figure to his four daughters.

Sadly, a documentary cannot be completed without discussion of his and his daughter Gianna’s untimely deaths in a helicopter crash in January.

We all remember Bryant as one of the greatest players of all time who left us too soon. He was supposed to watch his daughter go to UCONN and become a WNBA great. A part of his story would have to include his rape trial, and unfortunately, his death is a part of his story too. But this would without a doubt be one of the most compelling documentaries ever.
