4. New England Patriots

The Patriots are set to reshape their offense this year, with Tom Brady leaving and Jarrett Stidham the current favorite to take over under center. They are very likely to draft a quarterback too, but whoever winds up playing will need better pieces around him.

Running back does not seem like a major need for New England. But Sony Michel averaged just 3.7 yards per carry last year, James White is a nice weapon in the passing game but little more and Rex Burkhead can’t be counted on to stay healthy. There’s a buy-low opportunity now with Fournette, based on what Jacksonville has gotten for others in trades this offseason, and Bill Belichick probably can’t turn away from it.

Fournette is the same age as Michel (25), and he’s clearly the better back. The margin between him and White as a pass catcher is also narrowed now (if it’s not gone completely). The question in New England, as it would be in Miami, is workload split. But Belichick operates a meritocracy, and Fournette’s stout ball security (just three fumbles on 800 career touches) would give him an easy edge.
