player. 30. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Alabama. 11. OT. Jedrick Wills

The run on offensive tackles continues as the Jets take Alabama product Jedrick Wills. The 6-foot-4 junior was dominant in 2019, and he earned Second-Team AP All-American and First-Team All-SEC honors as the right tackle.

Wills game is tailor-made for the NFL despite his lack of typical size for the position. He makes up for that with quick, well-timed punches that counter defender’s ability to use their length against him. He will move bodies will also maintaining the ability to be mobile and athletic. Wills likes to control the game during every snap, and at times that means he will lunge and get out of position to attack a defender. That will have to be improved upon to maintain a ling NFL career.

The Jets have a need for a left tackle more than a right, but perhaps they could develop his skills to make the move. If not, he still can become a starter on the right side of the line to help protect Sam Darnold.

The Jets may then be able to have Chuma Edoga play a swing tackle role while they look for the future on the left. Wills has a good starter floor, and an All-Pro ceiling, so regardless of immediate need the Jets would be smart to select him here.
