2020 NFL mock draft: Full 7 rounds without trades
The Washington Redskins are in an interesting position as a franchise. They drafted quarterback Dwayne Haskins last season, but it seemed at times like they were not sold on him as the future face of the franchise.
New head coach Ron Rivera is looking to change the culture there, and that will in part start with his confidence in Haskins. Still, the Redskins will not be in the quarterback market during the 2020 NFL Draft, so they instead can take the top player available.
Ohio State’s Chase Young is that best player available, and yes he’s an even better prospect than Burrow.
Young was a stud for the Buckeyes in his three seasons at Ohio State. He was a reserve depth piece his freshman season, before stepping into a starting role in 2018. Young’s best season though came in 2019 as a junior. The pass-rusher led the nation with 16.5 sacks and six forced fumbles. He also ranked fourth in the FBS with 21 tackles for loss to go along with his 46 total tackles.
If awards peak your interest, Young has plenty. He was a First-Team AP All-American, won the Chuck Bednarik, Ted Hendricks and Bronko Nagurski Awards as the top defender or defensive lineman in the country, and was a Maxwell Award finalist.
Chase Young can step into a starting role for the Redskins immediately on the edge, where he will become the team’s top pass-rush threat.
