Pick Analysis. EDGE. Yetur Gross-Matos. player. Scouting Report. Penn State. 26. 59

Another first-round pick for the Dolphins? It’s incredible.

Yes, they were one of the worst teams in the league last season, but they showed improvement down the stretch. Plus, they have added players like former Patriots star Kyle Van Noy. Miami may, in fact, be in play in the AFC East, with the Patriots reloading and the Bills and Jets vastly improved as well.

Head coach Brian Flores is defensive-minded, and he will aim to create one of the most versatile and athletic groups that he can. Penn State’s Yetur Gross-Matos fits that mold. His best season in Happy Valley was his last, as he earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors as a junior after leading the team with 15 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks among 40 total tackles.

There is room for added weight on Gross-Matos’ frame, and he should fill out at the NFL level.  His impressive length, fluidity and short-area athleticism make him a great player in close on the line, and he will find ways to overpower opposing linemen. Added weight will benefit him in the strength department as well.

Gross-Matos is NFL ready and can start immediately for a rebuilt Dolphins team.
