8. player. 32. Pick Analysis. Tristan Wirfs. Iowa. Scouting Report. OT

Tristan Wirfs will be the first offensive tackle taken off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft, and it won’t be a surprise if that happens before No. 8. That said, there is a chance he falls to the Arizona Cardinals here.

Arizona has a need for an offensive tackle, and Wirfs athletic ability and size would help him to excel in a fast-paced Kliff Kingsbury offense. He is a player that can step in immediately, replacing Marcus Gilbert as the right tackle. The Cardinals gave up a ton of sacks in Kyler Murray’s rookie season, and protecting him in year two is paramount. This pick would be perfect for them

At Iowa, Wirfs earned 2019 Second-Team AP All-American and Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year honors. He is fluid and smooth with a strong core to thrive in an outside zone scheme.

Coming from Iowa, the lineman has high expectations and is not the kind of drive blocker the school usually produces. Some inside-out development is needed, as well as the addition of a better jump-set.
