2. The Lions will trade the No. 3 pick

It’s going to take a big trade offer to convince the Lions not to stay put at No. 3 to draft Jeff Okudah. He is, after all, the top rated player at the Lion’s biggest position of need.

On the other hand, the chances of a quarterback needy franchise making a big move into the top 5 to draft Tua Tagovailoa are also very high. The Lions are the right team for those franchises to target. They have plenty of needs to fill and should be open to the idea of moving down in Round 1.

Patricia might not like the idea of moving down, but it’s up to GM Bob Quinn to do what’s best for the franchise in the long run. If he can turn the No. 3 pick into at least three picks in the top two rounds of this year’s draft he should make the move.

That would allow the Lions to address their needs at corner and defensive tackle with relatively high picks. Detroit could go with the best player available with their other selections. Trading down may not thrill fans in the Motor City, but it’s the right move for a franchise with a lot of holes to fill.
