Seattle Seahawks 2020 mock draft: Full 7 rounds
By Conor Dorney
3rd round
The uncertainty surrounding offseason training programs impacted by COVID-19 means teams will be far less inclined to draft “project” players in this draft. Intel pipelines will be relied upon more heavily than ever before and one prospect with tons of strong links to Seattle is Florida’s Van Jefferson.
It’s no secret that the Seahawks want to upgrade their offensive weapons for Russell Wilson but they likely won’t do it in the first two rounds. Rounds three and four are the sweet spot for wideouts in this draft and Jefferson is a great fit for the Seattle offense.
Jefferson’s connections to the ‘Hawks run deep. He was a teammate of D.K. Metcalf at Ole Miss before his transfer to Florida. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer recruited him during his time at Georgia. Pete Carroll coached Jefferson’s father, Shawn, in New England.
Jefferson’s savvy as a route-runner and NFL bloodline means his learning curve heading into the league will be far less steep than some of the other wide receivers in the class. The Seahawks will likely place a huge value on that as they head into an uncertain offseason.
