The Chargers’ secondary has certainly undergone some changes this offseason. Safeties Adrian Phillips and Jaylen Watkins signed with the New England Patriots and Houston Texans, respectively. However, the biggest news came courtesy of a divisional rival, as four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Chris Harris left the Denver Broncos and joined Anthony Lynn’s club.

In nine seasons in the Mile High City, the former undrafted free agent from the University of Kansas came up with 20 interceptions (four returned for touchdowns), 86 passes defensed and four fumble recoveries in 139 regular-season contests. He also brings nine games of postseason experience and a Super Bowl championship to his new employer. He and Casey Hayward make for quite the cornerback combination.

Safety Rayshawn Jenkins played in 30 regular-season games and a pair of playoff contests in his first two seasons in the league, making one start. But his role changed dramatically this past year as the 2017 fourth-round pick started all 16 contests and finished fifth on the club with 53 defensive stops, to go along with three interceptions and four passes defensed. The former University of Miami product should benefit from the addition of Harris and a healthy Derwin James, who was limited to five games in 2019. The Chargers have the makings of quite the defensive backfield.
