2. Cordarrelle Patterson will catch 50 passes

Cordarrelle Patterson is one of the most dangerous receivers in the NFL when he gets the ball in space. The challenge for his offensive coaches has always been devising a game plan that can feature him without overwhelming his understanding of the game.

In theory, Nagy is the perfect coach to get the most out of the former Tennessee star. He’s one of the more creative play-callers in the league. Moreover, he’s not afraid to pound away on a mismatch he sees until the defense sees fit to adjust.

That should lead to Patterson’s most productive season as a professional in 2020. He’s never going to catch 100 passes and surpass 1,000 yards, but he can emerge as the Bears’ No. 2 or 3 wideout. Allen Robinson will be the No. 1, but Patterson and Anthony Miller can split the rest of the workload.

That will give Patterson 50 catches plus a few more touches in the run game. He’ll make enough big plays to make it worth Nagy’s effort to build sub-packages for him. Patterson will be a weapon for this offense in 2020.
