3. WR Steven Sims

He first emerged as a force on special teams and then later got hot as a pass-catcher. Former undrafted free agent Steven Sims had quite the December for the Washington Redskins in 2019. In the final five games of the season, he totaled 23 receptions for 259 yards and reached the end zone a total of four times — all of those scores in the team’s final three games.

All told, the former University of Kansas product put together quite the rookie resume. He played in all 16 games and finished third on the team with 34 catches, good for 310 yards and the aforementioned four TDs. That latter ranked second only to fellow rookie wideout Terry McLaurin in terms of scoring receptions (seven). He ran nine times for 85 yards, including a 65-yard score in a Week 5 home loss to the Patriots. Sims also led the club in kickoff return yardage, totaling 819 yards on 32 tries — including a 91-yard score in the team’s Week 12 victory over the visiting Detroit Lions.

In terms of a receiver, Sims may only be scratching the surface in terms of potential. He and McLaurin make for an intriguing tandem as both prepare for their second NFL campaigns.
