1. QB Dwayne Haskins

The quarterback situation for the Washington Redskins has been quite the mess ever since veteran Alex Smith broke his leg in a Week 11 home clash with the Texans in 2018. Since then, the team has had numerous starters in the form of Colt McCoy, Mark Sanchez, Josh Johnson, Case Keenum and 2019 first-round draft pick Dwayne Haskins. And including that loss to Houston, the team owns a combined 4-19 record in their last 23 outings.

The 15th overall selection in last year’s draft finished the year with so-so overall numbers. The former Ohio State standout hit on 58.6 percent of his throws for 1,365 yards and just as many touchdown passes as interceptions (seven apiece). He also absorbed 29 sacks in his nine total appearances, fumbling six times and losing two of those miscues. But down the stretch, he made a total of seven consecutive starts (Games 9-15) and appeared to be much more effective, throwing seven TD passes and only three picks over that stretch.

Alex Smith remains on the roster and Washington did trade for Kyle Allen, who filled in for Cam Newton for the majority of 2019 and is obviously a player new head coach Ron Rivera is quite familiar with. But this is Haskins’ time to seize the moment and look for him to build on last season’s solid finish.
