2020 NFL Draft: Dolphins fans rejoice with glee after drafting Tua Tagovailoa
Miami Dolphins fans rejoiced with glee after the team drafted former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick.
Tanking for Tua worked!
It feels like the Miami Dolphins have wandered through the valley of darkness at quarterback since Dan Marino retired in 2000. Jay Fiedler, Gus Frerotte, Daunte Culpepper, Chad Pennington and Ryan Tannehill are among the many signal-callers who have attempted to fill the shoes of the legendary Marino.
That is poised to change now that the Dolphins drafted Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth pick in the draft. Tagovailoa fell right into Miami’s lap after a scary hip injury, but if he is healthy the Dolphins may finally have their next great quarterback.
The news of the pick has been praised mightily on Twitter as Dolphins’ fans have eagerly shared their enthusiasm about their new franchise quarterback.

The Dolphins still have two more picks to make in the first round, but they have taken care of their biggest need by securing their future at the game’s most important position. The team’s fans recognize how important this pick is for the Dolphins, who are taking a risk but could end up with a massive reward.
This is also the first quarterback that Miami has taken in the first round since Ryan Tannehill, who helped lead the Tennessee Titans to the AFC Championship Game last season. Hopefully, for Dolphins’ fans sakes, this Tagovailoa era goes better than the Tannehill era did in Miami.
The Dolphins have their best quarterback since they had Marino and they didn’t have to give up any extra first round picks and they still have two more first-rounders to work with before the night is over still.
