The SEC did it! The Power 5 conference set an NFL record by having a ridiculous 15 players selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Thursday night was a good time to be an SEC football fan.

The Power 5 conference had an unprecedented 15 first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. Yes, you heard that right. The SEC had a pick fewer than half of all the first-round picks this spring. This was a record, shattering the mark of 12. If this isn’t pure madness, what is?

Here are all 15 picks that went in the first round out of the SEC this year. What a crop of talent.

2020 NFL Draft SEC First-Round Picks

It wasn’t just from one position group or from one school for that matter. The SEC had multiple quarterbacks, wide receivers, offensive tackles and cornerbacks going in the first round, among others.

Leading the way was 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow. The former LSU Tigers quarterback went No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals. Six of the top-10 picks this year were players from SEC schools.

Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas went No. 4 to the New York Giants. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa went No. 5 overall to the Miami Dolphins. Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown went to the Carolina Panthers at No. 7. Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson went No. 9 overall pick to the Florida Gators. Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. went No. 10 to the Cleveland Browns.

Six SEC schools had first-round picks. LSU led the way with five. Alabama had four. Auburn and Georgia both had two. Florida and South Carolina each had a guy. What’s even crazier is there were plenty of other great players from SEC schools who could have gone in the first round. Expect many more great players from this Power 5 conference to come off the board in day two.
