Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Penn State. Yetur Gross-Matos. player. EDGE. 38. 806

If Derrick Brown is going to anchor the Panthers defensive line for the next decade, Yetur Gross-Matos is going to be waiting for anyone trying to veer around the edge.

The Penn State product is going to compliment the brute force of Brown’s plugging the defensive line with blazing speed off the corner. Keep in mind the Panthers already have a great edge rusher in Brian Burns, and now have a perfect pairing to go with him and create chaos for opposing offenses.

As his pass-rush skills improve, Gross-Matos is going to be a part of a defensive line that continues to get deeper, and one that could very well become one of the best in football in no time at all.

S. 87. Pick Analysis. 64. player. Scouting Report. Southern Illinois. Jeremy Chinn

For all that was made about the cornerbacks and safeties taken in the first few rounds of the draft, not enough was made about Jeremy Chinn.

He’s been compared to Isaiah Simmons, the position neutral eighth overall pick, which should be music to the ears of Panthers fans hoping the defensive rebuild starts off on the right foot. Chinn is a safety but he can play linebacker and the Panthers being able to use him as a wild card at both will make him hard to gameplan for. There’s a lot of risk with position switching on the fly, but Chinn is a smart player who the Panthers can groom to be a Luke Kuechly leader both on and off the field.
