Baltimore Ravens 2020 NFL Draft grades: Patrick Queen rules round one
By John Buhler
Third Round
Baltimore made four third-round picks on Friday night with the first being on Texas A&M Aggies defensive tackle Justin Madubuike at No. 71. This pick originally belonged to the Los Angeles Chargers but was dealt to the Ravens by the New England Patriots. Madubuike will be a nice complementary playmaker in the middle of that vaunted Ravens defense right away.
The Ravens used their second pick of the third round on Texas Longhorns wide receiver Devin Duvernay. At 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, maybe he can help space the field for Lamar Jackson vertically, as we know he loves to throw the deep ball. This feels like a slight redundancy of Marquise Brown, but Duvernay was a First-Team All-Big 12 player last year for Tom Herman.
This No. 98 overall pick comes the Ravens’ way from the deal they made on Friday night with the Patriots. Baltimore once again decides to add a piece to the middle of their defense in the former of Ohio State Buckeyes linebacker Malik Harrison. He is the second Buckeye taken by Baltimore in this draft, as he joins running back J.K. Dobbins in the Charm City by way of Columbus.
In the compensatory part of the third round, the Ravens wrapped up their picks on Friday night by taking Mississippi State Bulldogs guard Tyre Phillips with the No. 106 pick. The former JUCO player initially redshirted in Starkville in2017 before playing his last two seasons for Joe Moorhead. The program struggled during his time in school and this pick feels like a bit of a reach for Baltimore.
