Third Round

Wyoming Cowboys. Logan Wilson. 65. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. player. 903

The Bengals opted to go with a defensive player to round out its day-two selections. While quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Tee Higgins are the clear highlights of the Bengals’ draft, they may have found a guy who can be plugged in and play right away in their defense. Cincinnati went with Wyoming Cowboys linebacker Logan Wilson at No. 65 in the third round.

Wilson starred in the Mountain West, where he was a two-time all-conference player. He made the All-Mountain West First Team in 2019 and the All-Mountain West Second Team in 2017. Before that, he was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year back in 2016, a year after he redshirted for the Cowboys.

Though he will be 24-years-old before he even plays a professional snap for the Bengals, Wilson’s production in college speaks for itself. The rangy defender made over 100 tackles in each of his last three seasons in Laramie, coming up only six stops short of making it 4-for-4 in college. Wilson will eventually end up wearing the green dot in this Cincinnati defense.

If the Bengals defense can be respectable this fall, they might challenge a few more teams than we expect. The offense should be pretty good and if Cincinnati’s front-seven plays like it did during the Marvin Lewis years, Cincinnati may not finish in the AFC North basement this season. Wilson is an underrated pickup, but one that should yield an immediate impact for the Bengals.
