Best Pick: Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama

Ruggs is a classic Raiders pick. The late Al Davis would approve and then some of bringing in the sub 4.3 receiver on the outside. If you know anything about history, this is following in the Silver and Black footsteps of Cliff Branch, Warren Wells and Tim Brown.

As for Ruggs himself, he was seen as a top-tier receiver in this fantastic class, alongside Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb. Las Vegas wanted someone to take the top off opposing defenses, opening up space for tight end Darren Waller and receivers Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow. This move should accomplish those ideals.

Worst Pick: Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State

Arnette is a talented kid, but he’s a reach. Sometimes, general managers fall in love with a kid and decided they can’t risk waiting for another round. In this case, Mayock didn’t have a second-round choice and decided to make his call early, but Arnette was largely thought to be valued as a Day 2 pick.

The other issue is his age. By September, Arnette will be 24 years old. If he pans out, the age concern doesn’t end up mattering all that much, but the Raiders are taking one of the oldest rookies in the class at No. 19 overall. It’s a huge risk.
