Best Pick: Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama

There’s no question that the best pick the Giants made was snagging McKinney in the second round. McKinney was a first-round talent who fell into the second due to a poor 40 time and his position being undervalued. The Giants secured a potential long-term starter at a bargain price.

Worst Pick: Darnay Holmes, CB, UCLA

The Giants reached a bit in the fourth round to pick up Holmes, who is a depth guy for the secondary that could probably have been had later on, offering the Giants the opportunity to trade back and acquire more picks. Players like Tyler Biadasz, Antonio Gandy-Golden, and Amik Robertson offered more value at 110 than Holmes.

Grade: B-

The Giants did a good job filling needs along the offensive line and in the secondary, but they were a bit too narrowly focused on those holes, spending their first five picks at those two positions. Needs at linebacker and edge rusher were ignored while the Giants largely sat out one of the best wide receiver classes in years. The work that Dave Gettleman did will help in the long term but they could have spread the wealth a bit more to ensure a more well-balanced roster.
