Tennessee Titans 2020 NFL Draft grades: Kristian Fulton is godsend
By Matt Conner
The Titans needed a partner for Derrick Henry in the backfield and they didn’t go far to find one in Darrynton Evans, a small shifty back with good vision and burst who should be the sort of change of pace back needed to spell Henry at times and provide another offensive wrinkle for the Titans.
Evans averaged 5.8 yards per carry last year en route to being named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He had 18 touchdowns on the ground and caught another five through the air, so he is clearly comfortable being the primary focus on offense. That said, at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, he’s not going to hold up so well in pass protection and this seems a bit early to grab a scatback in a loaded draft class like this.
If the Titans are interested in utilizing Evans’ return ability as well then that produces a bit more value, but better options were available.
