Houston Texans

Bill O’Brien has shifted a lot of the team’s roster around recently. Therefore, Texans did not pick in the first but had two picks on Day 2.

O’Brien went defense with each pick. First, defensive tackle Ross Blacklock from TCU and then Florida linebacker Jonathan Greenard.

Blacklock has the most potential and he brings versatility to the defensive line. Both are nice picks who will help the team’s defense in 2020.

O’Brien went defense again with one of his picks in Round 4, selecting corner John Reid from Penn State. The other pick that round was used on North Carolina tackle Charlie Heck.

Defense was the name of the game for the Texans this draft, and they got some good value picks throughout each round.

Nothing special, but the team got what they needed without reaching too far.

Grade: B

Tennessee Titans

The Titans were perhaps the NFL’s biggest surprise last season. Behind the resurgent Ryan Tannehill and a heavy run attack, they made it all the way to the AFC Championship game against the eventual Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs.

In the draft, they played it cool. Round 1, they reinforced the offensive line with tackle Isaiah Wilson. Day 2, they filled a hole at corner with LSU’s Kristian Fulton. With the 93rd pick, they drafted running back Darrynton Evans.

Evans will be the counter to Derrick Henry’s pounding running style.

Nothing flashy, but effective.
