New York Giants

Dave Gettleman has never been shy when it comes to selecting “his guy” in the draft. While his first-round selections with the Giants have been heavily questioned, he nailed it this year with tackle Andrew Thomas.

Some scouts and experts have the pick graded lower because they had Thomas ranked below the likes of Wirfs, Wills and Becton. However, Gettleman still got a potential mainstay on the offensive line with Thomas.

Gettleman than capitalized on an unexpected slip when safety Xavier McKinney fell into the second. Later, he drafted another offensive lineman in Matt Peart.

The defense also got some attention later on towards the end.

Gettleman drafted two perennial stars and another potential starter in Peart.

Grade: B+

Denver Broncos

Look around the league. There are many teams currently with, or who have had, rookie or inexperienced quarterbacks starting games each week.

Some of these teams have been able to build around those quarterbacks, supplying them with talent. Other teams have done the opposite. The Broncos will not let Drew Lock fall into the latter category.

Alabama standout receiver Jerry Jeudy was John Elway’s first-round pick. He used his next pick on Penn State receiver KJ Hamler in Round 2. Then, he drafted center Lloyd Cushenberry at pick 83.

Elway may have reached with Hamler, but he helped Lock a lot this draft. Now, it is up to the young signal-caller to hold up his end.
