5. Cincinnati Bengals

Draft Class

  • 1st round-QB Joe Burrow (LSU)
  • 2nd round-WR Tee Higgins (Clemson)
  • 3rd round-ILB Logan Wilson (Wyoming)
  • 4th round-OLB Akeem Davis-Gaither (Appalachian State)
  • 5th round-DE Khalid Kareem (Notre Dame)
  • 6th round-OT Hakeem Adeniji (Kansas)
  • 7th round-ILB Markus Bailey (Purdue)

The Bengals went 1-15 for a reason, but it gave Cincinnati the opportunity to find its quarterback of the future. Landing Joe Burrow with the first overall pick gives the Bengals a chance to find a true answer at the game’s most important position, which is a win in itself.

Cincinnati did well to help Burrow out by giving him a top-flight receiver by tabbing Tee Higgins at the top of the second round. Higgins was highly productive at Clemson and should work well with Tyler Boyd and A.J. Green in the Bengals’ passing attack.

The sneaky good pick for the Bengals came in the third round when they grabbed Logan Wilson out of Wyoming. Wilson, a tackling machine and three-year captain, has a chance to become a leader on a rebuilt Bengals’ defense.

Despite having only seven picks the Bengals did a great job attacking their needs, smartly using their draft capital to plug holes. Cincinnati should be a lot better in 2020 and this draft class could be the foundation for a future winner.
