Baltimore Ravens. 4. team. 26. . .

2020 Key Additions: The reigning AFC North champions weren’t overly busy this off season but they made to solid acquisitions in trading for defensive end Calais as Campbell and signing Derek Wolfe. The club also added inside linebacker Jake Ryan, who’s barely seen the field these past 2 seasons. But then came the draft and general manager Eric DeCosta snagged some top-notch performers in inside linebacker Patrick Queen (LSU) and running back J.K. Dobbins (Ohio State) in the first and second-round, respectively. The Ravens wound up selecting 10 players – equally split between the offensive (5) and defensive side (5).

Offseason Review: This was a team that finished with the best record in the NFL in 2019, won its final 12 regular-season games and set a new league record for rushing yards by a team in a season. But it all came undone in a 28-12 home loss to the red-hot Titans and there was plenty of blame to go around for that setback. The club has some work to do on the offensive line at guard with the retirement of perennial Pro Bowler Marshal Yanda and DeCosta addressed that spot twice in the draft. All told, it’s been a very typical Baltimore offseason – utilizing the draft to fill some holes and making just a handful of veteran pickups.

42. . . . San Francisco 49ers. 3. team

2020 Key Additions: The 49ers have made some news this offseason but their biggest move was a trade that sent quality defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts for the 13th overall pick in this month’s draft. General manager John Lynch would then move down one spot and took another yet defensive lineman in South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw. The Niners then jumped back into the first round and added wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (Arizona State). And on the final Saturday of the draft, the reigning conference champions landed seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams in a deal with the Redskins.

Offseason Review: Lynch was extremely busy on Day 3 of the draft. He not only acquired Trent Williams (which coincides with the retirement of veteran tackle Joe Staley) but dealt running back Matt Breida to Miami and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin to Philadelphia. This is an extremely talented roster and the club continues to bolster it with good young players. The defense is ferocious but it did have some issues when it came to stopping the run and that’s something that must improve. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo looks to stay healthy for a second straight year and if he can, that bodes well for Kyle Shanahan’s squad.
