Home: Cincinnati Bengals

Speaking of bottom-dwelling teams with offensive line issues, the path in and out of Washington also includes the Cincinnati Bengals on the schedule, which means Ron Rivera’s team has another franchise with which to contend for future draft slots. The difference here is that the Bengals are a year ahead in terms of head coaching choice (Zac Taylor) and will likely be featuring their franchise face in Joe Burrow.

This year, Haskins will be given the floor, er, field to show whether or not he’s the man for Rivera’s way forward, which means a solid performance against Burrow and company could show the Redskins as farther along than anticipated. However, Haskins is going to likely have to take significant  steps forward, and not just a slight bit of progress, to win over a regime that did not invest in him.

If Haskins and company can put together convincing wins over the likes of the Giants and Bengals while being competitive for the rest of the schedule, that’s a solid goal and would make everyone hopeful in D.C.
