Pick Analysis. P. 1. Scouting Report. Colorado Rockies. Jon Gray. player. 108

Gray took a big step in his major league career last season. After his ERA climbed to 5.12 in 2018, he was able to lower it to 3.84, the second-best of his career. Gray could benefit from getting away from Coors Field, where he has a career 4.36 ERA. He also could get a boost from getting out of that division. In 34 starts against the Dodgers, Giants, and Diamondbacks, he owns a 4.77 ERA, a drop higher than his career 4.46.

Against American League opponents in his career, hitters hit just .196 off of the 28-year old, while he is 6-1 with a 3.21 against inter-league opponents.

The rotation could use another righty, too. With a healthy Paxton, Cole is the only right-handed arm among the first four starters.

No one really knows what the Rockies are doing, as Nolan Arenado was on the trade block all offseason long and is still with the club. But if the Rockies begin to tear it up, Brian Cashman should definitely make a call.

Plus, for what it’s worth, he’s allowed just seven earned runs in 28.0 innings against AL East opponents. That’s a 2.25 ERA.
