4. Winning record vs. NFC West

A big key for the Bills this year is gaining confidence against good teams to prove they belong in the upper pantheon of the NFL. Having a second-place schedule in the AFC helps, but playing six games against the AFC East won’t be all that impressive in the eyes of those watching the league at-large. Again, you can’t control what your schedule is, but you can control how you perform.

The Bills take on the NFC West in its entirety in its out-of-conference rotation. While the NFC West might be the best division in football, the way the schedule shapes up for the Bills means they might be able to win multiple games out of that foursome. 2-2 feels like the floor here. Though sweeping the NFC West seems difficult, going 3-1 against that division feels about right.

Buffalo draws the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks at home, with road dates vs. the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers. While the road game in Santa Clara feels like a loss, every other game has the makings to be a Buffalo win. The Bills should beat the Rams at home and may not get the Seahawks’ best game when they travel across the country.

Though Seattle has the better quarterback, bad weather and a cross-country flight favors a defense-first team like the Bills. If Buffalo can play up to its potential, the Bills can beat the Seahawks in Orchard Park, as well as steal a game on the road vs. an improving Arizona Cardinals team. Frankly, there may not be another team in the AFC East who can go 3-1 vs. the NFC West.
