Josh Rosen could still have a future in the NFL, but where might his third act redemption take place?

After flaming out in both Arizona and Miami, Josh Rosen has been the loser of draft weekend in both of his professional seasons. The first came when the Cardinals – who had just selected him tenth overall a year prior – took Kyler Murray first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. The second was last week when the Dolphins — a year removed from trading for Rosen — drafted Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick.

Tua joining the Fins along with Ryan Fitzpatrick continuing to be a boss at the quarterback position means the writing is on the wall for Rosen. He’s going to be traded again or potentially even cut by the time the 2020 season starts up.

At just 23 years of age, Josh Rosen shouldn’t be given up on yet.

Some of these teams are long shots when it comes to bringing him in, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a handful of fits around the league. Rosen needs to go somewhere where he can sit and learn; somewhere he won’t be thrown to the wolves.

Where are some places that could make sense for Rosen? Let’s take a look.

123. NFC. East. 10. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys don’t need a starter, but Rosen won’t be a starter anytime soon so this feels like a great match. Dak Prescott is the starter for the Cowboys in 2020 (and likely beyond even though a contract hasn’t been reached yet), so there wouldn’t be any pressure on Rosen to feel like he has to be the guy in Big D.

Rosen would have the chance to learn from both Prescott and new Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, who is an offensive minded coach. Sitting behind Prescott and learning from McCarthy could do wonders for Rosen and if – for some reason – Dallas opts not to sign Prescott after 2020, maybe Rosen could become the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.

The other names on the quarterback depth chart behind Prescott are nothing special, so Rosen would likely become the favorite to land the backup job. This makes the most sense for both sides, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be what happens.
