The Denver Broncos got Drew Lock some weapons this offseason. It’s all the more reason you need to take a late-round flier on him in fantasy football.

The Denver Broncos seem to have their quarterback of the future in second-year pro Drew Lock or so they think. The former Missouri Tigers standout emerged as Denver’s starter down the stretch and did have some success in his first year in the league. However, he faces huge expectations this fall, as Denver vies for its first playoff berth since winning Super Bowl 50 back in 2015.

The Fantasy Footballers agree Lock is worth the late-round fantasy football flier entering the 2020 NFL season. He will have so many weapons to work with, it’ll be incredibly difficult for him to fail. Not only do running back Phillip Lindsay and wide receiver Courtland Sutton return, Lock gains an incredible offensive coordinator in former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur.

Adding Shurmur would have brought the best out of Lock anyway. Do y’all remember what he did with Sam Bradford and Case Keenum when he was coordinating the Minnesota Vikings’ offense? But that’s not the end of it here for Lock. General manager John Elway went out and got his new favorite quarterback some pretty cool toys in free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Broncos landed former Los Angeles Chargers first-round running back Melvin Gordon in free agency. Denver also went out and drafted wide receiver Jerry Jeudy out of Alabama and wide receiver K.J. Hamler out of Penn State with its first two picks. To make this even sweeter, the Broncos added Lock’s favorite college target into the equation in tight end Albert Okwuegbunam.

Denver may have used a first-round pick on Noah Fant out of Iowa, but again, you can never have too many good tight ends on a roster. In short, Lock has no excuses to play poorly next year. The offensive line will no longer resemble a wet paper bag entering its second year under Mike Munchak‘s watch. The Broncos already have a great defense under head coach Vic Fangio.

So what we’re really trying to get at here is it’s worth it to draft Lock with one of your last picks in your 2020 fantasy football draft. He might only be QB2 for you at best, but pick him up as a QB3 at the very least just to prevent another team in your league from picking him up. This is a low-risk, high-reward proposition. If Lock is as good as Elway thinks he is, then it’s good news for you.
