2. Chicago Bears

A lot of NFL teams are desperate for the next great quarterback, but none has been as frustrated as the Bears. It looked like the Bears might have had their man when they traded up in the 2017 draft to snag Mitchell Trubisky, who helped lead them to a 12-4 season in 2018.

Trubisky did take a big step back in 2019, however, leading the Bears to trade for Nick Foles to give themselves an insurance policy at quarterback. Chicago also declined the fifth-year option for Trubisky, a sign they are prepared to move on from him.

That is a startling admission of failure for the franchise, which notably passed on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson to take Trubisky. Instead of trudging through a mediocre season and hoping they find a second-tier prospect, it would make a ton of sense for the Bears to tank for the sure thing.

Another regression from Trubisky would likely put the Bears close to drafting a quarterback, so simply going all the way into a tank is not a much bigger leap. If Chicago can pair a guy like Lawrence with their incredible defense, the Bears can become an NFC North powerhouse in the near future.
