Away: Arizona Cardinals

As quickly as the narrative changed on the Rams in terms of their descent, the same can be said of the Cardinals and what appears to be an impressive ascending club. Last year, Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray partnered to win five games and force a tie in another—a two win improvement on the previous year. This season, a .500 record should be an achievable goal with a slight chance of squeaking into the postseason.

The Cardinals still have multiple holes on their roster and they’re not a deep team by any means, but another draft class should help their offensive line turn the corner (hello, Tristan Wirfs?). That’s good news when facing Aaron Donald twice each year. The bigger news is that the Rams imported DeAndre Hopkins into a division featuring Jalen Ramsey and the pair are already used to twice-yearly showdowns in the AFC South. That should be interesting to watch in new environs.

If the Rams want to strike fear in the hearts of opponents once again, they’re going to have to take care of business against an impressive young team who made the NFL’s most impressive addition. They won both games last year, so the pressure to improve is on the Cardinals, but it seems as if they’re game for the challenge.
